Sophrologist – Therapist – Ixelles – Rhode-Saint-Genèse – Chantal Dehaye
About me – Chantal Dehaye
I work with adults and teenagers from the age of 12 who are experiencing stress, anxiety, panic attacks, fears, sleep difficulties or periods of intense pressure.
When stress or anxiety become overwhelming, the body can remain in a state of alert, sometimes even when the danger has passed. Sleep can become disrupted, tension builds up, thoughts go round in circles, and certain situations can gradually become more difficult to face.
My approach begins by helping each person better understand what is happening in their body and mind. Understanding how stress works can often help us see what we are experiencing from a different perspective and begin to regain a sense of stability.
Sophrology offers practical ways to work with this state of alert. Depending on each person’s needs, I use breathing techniques, relaxation, movement, visualisation and exercises designed to release physical tension.
There is no single technique that works for everyone. Sessions are therefore tailored to each individual, to what they are going through and to what feels right for them. The aim is to gradually become more aware of one’s reactions, develop practical tools to respond to them, and regain confidence in one’s ability to take action.
About me
Before becoming a sophrologist, I spent nearly twenty years working in communications and public relations, mainly in the luxury sector.
A car accident profoundly changed my daily life. In the months that followed, I experienced first-hand what it means to live with a body and mind that remain on high alert, even after the danger has passed.
I began to explore, read and try to understand what was happening in my body and mind. Breathing, meditation, movement and various relaxation techniques gradually became an important part of my daily life.
Understanding the mechanisms of stress and exploring different ways of calming these responses allowed me to see what I was experiencing from a different perspective. It was also this journey that eventually led me to sophrology.
I then chose to undertake a two-year professional training programme at the École Belge de Sophrologie Fondamentale et de Relaxation (Belgian School of Fundamental Sophrology and Relaxation).
Today, my personal experience naturally informs the way I work, but it is not a method in itself. Every person comes with their own story, their own reactions and their own resources. My role is to help each person better understand what is happening, to offer practical tools, and to give them the opportunity to explore these tools and discover which ones work best for them.
Because nothing is set in stone. Things can change, one step at a time.
